I was told by a friend that Dan's books were science fiction. That is usually not my genre of choice. As I began reading, I changed my view and decided that this was instead a "scientific fiction" rather than what we think of as "science fiction/fantasy." By the end of this first book, I decided it is the best of historical fiction and was enthralled! Can't wait to get into the second book to continue the journey.Product details

Great read! Seems that most WWII stories are about European theater this is a well researched Japanese piece that puts you in the moment and is told through the perspective of the times. I learned many things about Japanese life at that time I did not know. Evidently this is the first of a series of books. I anxiously await the ones yet to come.
