This was an enjoyable read! At the start, I saw a Cate Crupper who was heading out for a vacation with her girlfriend, only to find that she was abandoned... all alone and stranded... on her own.Cate's physical and emotional journey, guided by The Management, takes her through many comical adventures, a mysterious romance, and then a finale that made me cry (in a GOOD way!).
I loved this story... especially because of the ending.

Time For Change C S Halvorsen 9780557213450 Books Reviews
Reading Time for Change is a hop into an air balloon for a whopping waft over a world of adventure, fantasy, romance and self-discovery. It's the identity search we read in school--The Odyssey, Pilgrim's Progress, Hero with a Thousand Faces--AND the one we read at home for fun--The Wizard of Oz.
This thoroughly modern heroine's face is Cate Crupper's; it's pretty, framed in blond hair, and backed by a resourceful, sharp-witted brain. Her journey is into a colorful fantasy land, in some ways wonderfully archetypal and timeless, a perfect foil for Cate's timely wise-cracks. In other ways, the fast-paced, gripping episodes, the imaginative animals and humans introduced, and the haunting scenes described with an artist's eye for color are like nothing we've read before. The not-too-long novel is engrossing, and it's fun for all ages old enough for exposure to the world's foulest mouthed green gnome or an effervescent love scene. For adult readers, psychological insight, contemporary satire, an unfolding of self-discovery, and a lot of wisdom have been deftly painted into this novel's amazing landscape.
Imagine taking a journey into a fantastic, unpredictable, whimsical wonderland and meeting the real Wizard of Oz yourself. Not just yourself, but your real self, the unfettered person you were as a child, when dreams and delights flowed freely, and adult hang-ups were locked away in some never-never land somewhere. Time For Change offers that kind of journey. And more. It's like traveling with this comical person we've all known--or been--a lady named Cate who seems to be a cross between Carol Burnett, Martha Stewart and Cinderella. As Cate's vacation with her best friend goes completely awry, she finds herself literally off the beaten path, alone, and wandering from underground cave to beautiful valley to cliff-lined beach to DisneyLand castle, but all the while cared for by the out-of-sight but most benevolent guardian known as The Management. Her journey meanders, like a stroll through an Impressionist's painting, with music by Debussy and locations by Peter Jackson, but the adventure is far from haphazard. It's all part of a greater plan, to bring her back in touch with the real treasures she's lost in her everyday life contentment, simplicity, abandon, romance and joy. Which of course, brings the reader back in touch with those treasures as well. But as I said, there's more. A great twist that you didn't see coming, and the promise of further adventure, back in the real adventure everyday life.
